Nuuly

If you love clothes and wish you had an unlimited closet, let me introduce you to Nuuly. This subscription lets you rent 6 pieces of clothes for, generally, a month at a set price no matter how expensive the pieces you order are. Most of the pieces I got were more expensive than the subscription itself. This was my first package from Nuuly and I wanted to tell you about the pieces I got. Since they are worn by other people, I have been questioned about the quality of the pieces so I want to give an honest review for each.

This chunky knit cardigan from Anthropologie is super comfy and warm! I got a ton of compliments and the colors are so fun. It’s an easy topper that can spice up a basic outfit. My only complaint is that it had a lot of pills on it, but that wasn't necessarily surprising.

This button-up sweater is tight-knit and thick with the coolest design on the front and a sweet car on the back. I tried them on with my new shorts from Free People and I think they are a cute, casual pair. This would be cute to work with wide-leg jeans and yoga pants or to a concert with longer shorts, like in the picture. I really like this sweater and honestly, it felt pretty new, not worn out at all!

These pants are the best! They are thick, cozy and so cute! I got so many compliments on these pants and they happened to go well with some new shoes I had gotten around the time I got my package. It’s kind of hard to find a top that goes with this because of the color. I think it would look best with a brown top or a fun color like green or pink! No complaints about this piece!

I was so excited to get this top because I love the off-the-shoulder look and this is a very romantic top. It was unfortunate that the top straps didn’t fit my shoulders even at their tightest. I’m glad I still had the chance to wear it! I liked this top with my wide-leg jeans to go out to dinner or a casual night on the town!

I had always wanted to try this sexy corset top from Urban Outfitters. I’m glad I had the chance to try this top on and go out in it because I realized it wouldn’t have been worth my money. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a cute top, but between the wires and hook and eye closures down the back made me uncomfortable.

I love this soft, floral button-down. To be honest, I haven’t had the chance to wear this top yet, mainly because I keep forgetting about it. But, it is still super cute! I love the floral and strip details and it’s just perfect as spring is coming into blossom more and more every day! It came quite wrinkled and felt more worn out.

The Met Gala 2024

What is the Met Gala?

The first Monday of May, the Metropolitan Museum of Art hosts one of the most glamorous events packed with A-list celebrities wearing extravagant custom pieces to fit the theme. It is a fundraiser organized by Vogue to celebrate a new exhibit at the museum.

2024 Details

Hosts: Zendaya, Chris Hemsworth, Bad Bunny and Jennifer Lopez

New Exhibition: Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion

Gala Theme: The Garden of Time

Outfits this year!

I have to say, I had very high expectations this year between the theme and the iconic celebrity list. I will admit I was disappointed for a couple reasons. This was a great theme that, I believe, gave guests the ability to be as creative and imaginative as they wanted by interpreting ‘Garden of Time’ in different ways. A lot of the pieces that were worn were beige and, I hate to say, boring. I’m going to give my honest opinions of some of these ensembles. Also, some of the regular guests who always have the most memorable outfits. We were missing Blake Lively, Rihanna, Anya Taylor Joy, Anne Hathaway, and more! There will still memorable pieces, but lacked a certain something this year.

My favorite 2023 trend

If there’s one thing I love, it’s feeling like a woman, in an ‘I’m expressing my femininity through my clothes and accessories’ way. Putting together a new outfit I’m excited about and figuring out a hairstyle and makeup look to match. But there’s something about bows that changes everything.

I think the reason I like this trend so much is because it makes women feel like girls. There is something that is so innocently feminine about bows. I remembered loving my variety of bow clips that I put in my hair as a little girl. I grew out of that accessory, but now as a 23-year-old woman, I love a sweet little bow as an accessory whether it’s in the hair or on clothes.

A term has been paired with this trend to define the feminine innocence a bow makes women feel. That term is ‘coquette’ which is defined by three Gen Z influencers as ‘a style that emphasizes a playful and flirtatious attitude, often characterized by dainty and delicate elements such as ruffles, bows, and pastel colors’ to Sierra Mayhew. I believe this is a great way to illustrate the aesthetic that the bow encapsulates.

I hope this trend carries over into 2024 because it’s nice to feel sweet and feminine.
